Happy Irish days!

Happy St Patty's Day!

Time to bring out the green! I love this time of year.....especially in Chicago! It is a city full of Irish spirit. I am mostly Irish and proud to say so as today is the celebration of the Irish.

For those of you who have never been to Chicago for St Patty's Day, I highly recommend putting it on your to do list. Due to the city's historically large population of Irish heritage, it has become quite the holiday here. This past weekend was "Green Green Everywhere To Be Seen" There are always two parades.....one down town and one for the south side of Chicago ;) Every bar is loaded with people in green, plays Irish music, and most bars even have green beer. I went out Saturday and felt as if I was in some sort of "Halloween taken over by the Leprechaun" Everyone was in amazing costume. Sears (and yes I do mean "Sears" It will always be "Sears" I do not care who buys it out!) Tower is all light up in Green as well! The whole city just screams Go Irish!!!!

In the sense of family and tradition, I also love St Patty's Day. My family usually all goes to Church and has a great Irish dinner in celebration of the lovely Blarney based country. Sunday I went out for a Brunch with my mother, grandmother, brother, and one of my aunts. My Grandmother was so damn cute....she even wore a green bow-tie and a Green top hat. We had lots of laughs as we drank in good spirits to Irish music and of course corn beef based dishes! From the moment we sat down my Grandmother persistently tried playing match-maker between myself and the waiter...ha ha ha...poor guy...she wouldn't let up about it. I really love that woman! It is so important to cherish the moments we have with our loved ones.....for as we all know, one day they will not be here. Wow!! I could cry just thinking about that!!!

Today, considering it is Tuesday, will not be as eventful as Sunday. I will just go to my mother's house and have dinner there. Well perhaps we might blend up a grasshopper or two....it is St Patrick's Day after all !!!!
